Rating: VCR BROKE AFTER 95 DAYS JUST AFTER WARRANTY
This seemed like the best on AMAZON, so I ordered it directly through AMAZON. After 90+ days the VCR part broke/ate my tape which was new. Right after the 90 day warranty ran out. I would not waste my $221.61 on another like this. Now I know why the maker only warrants their merchandise for 90 days!
In addition, I had a Toshiba DVR/VCR player sd v296. Video tapes I recorded on it could not play on this machine. 1st really bad experience I had with AMAZON. Will not order any more electronics from them again.

This is my second Toshiba DVR660. I liked the 1st one so well, I bought another for the bedroom. It does exactly what I hoped it would: great DVD and VCR recording, easy dubbing from VCR tapes to DVD discs, easy to hook up and easy set up too.
Rating:
The machine is good. The information don’t generally work as written. Many experimenting does get the job done.

Generally speaking I am happy with this unit. It works well and I have not had any trouble. The only exemption to this is most likely something many people mentioned before: If you use the recorder’s automated timer function, you have to turn the unit off. If you want to watch something before the scheduled program is set to record, you are out of luck. This is a important, important design flaw. This should have been corrected.
I read the reviews. I thought, no big deal, but it becomes a big deal when you see how easy it’s to set the timer and choose to attempt it to record a program, , then go back afterward to realize it did not work because you did not turn the unit off.

We bought this DVR player and it was faulty. OK, that could happen. But the seller could NOT pay return shipping charges. Their bad product = they are replacing it without making the buyer pay twice. And, the product couldn’t be returned, only replaced.

Easy setup. Remote is a bit small, but this is my only complain’. What a difference in viewing my dvd’s. Easy set up, clean, slim design, and hdmi output

coby tfdvd7051 7 does improve the image of a standard DVD when displayed on an HDTV. It certainly doesn’t compare with true HD, but it’s definitely better than a standard player. The remote is a little disappointing. Small, and a few buttons with dual purpose, which is kind of annoying. Also lacks an open/closebutton, which means you have to use the one on the unit and wait for the tray to open.
